CHAPTER TEN–HISTORY OF FVN ALERTS

Lesson 71–HISTORY OF ALERTS: When FVN started on September 1, 1984, the Cold War (WWIII) was boiling, mostly in the Persian Gull, Central America, Afghanistan and Africa. There were plenty of military of Military Alerts back then as well as a lot of Terrorist Activity with about 12 different Terrorist Groups that were active at the time. We will show in this Chapter why different GEMSTONE CODES are called.

Every time there was a terrorist attack against the U.S. Military or its citizens or every time there was a Military Alert a CODE SILVER was called. One Silver was the hostage taking at the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, Iran on November 4, 1979, and lasted for 444 days until President Regan’s first day on January 20, 1981. A CODE EMERALD was called for the ill fated rescue attempt in March of 1980.

Predominate CODE EMERALDS were Lebanon, Grenada, Honduras (training), Panama, Desert Storm, Somalia (a U.N. Clusterfox), Bosnia (IFOR-UN), Serbia (SFOR-war), Global War on Terror (World War IV), Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan), Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation New Dawn (Iraq) and Operation Oddessy Dawn (Lybia). Various Military Operations fall under the Global War on Terror (GWOT).

As of July 1, 2012, current CODE EMERALDS are for Operations Enduring Freedom and GWOT with an overall GEMSTONE CODE OF GOLD. See Chapter Eight for interpreting GEMSTONE CODES. See Chapter 11 for Military Action Casualty Rates.
